Passionate , Dedicated , Mad!

Self description

Female , 30

I'm Rach, I'm 21 and I've just completed a degree in Education with Religious Studies from Cambridge University. Before you ask - no, I don't want to be a teacher. I'm actually not quite sure what I want to do - I'm starting a 1 year internship with Christian Aid in August doing youth and students work and considering going into the charity/NGO sector but it's so competitive it's scary!!!!

A few more random facts about me: I've been with my boyfriend, Dan, for over 2 years (we met at university). I love movies and music. And I'm ever so slightly mad...

Life experiences

Student life

When I started at university I suffered from all the usual hang-ups; after the stress of choosing a course and a university came the difficulty of moving away from home for the first time, making new friends, adjusting to the workload and managing my studies effectively. I'm willing to speak to anyone about any concerns they may have about university life, from choosing a course to ensuring they don't go malnourished through lack of cooking skills!

Asperger syndrome and relationships

This area is a bit more specific - my boyfriend (who I have been with for over 2 years) has Asperger Syndrome, and although I don't claim to be an expert, I feel I can help others by sharing my experiences with them, whether it is someone in a relationship with an Asperger's person and needs someone to talk to who understands what they're going through, a person with Asperger's who finds relationships difficult or a parent / guardian of an Asperger's person who wants reassurance that their child is capable of a loving relationship.

I am very lucky to have found your website. Recently I wrote about a problem which I face very often.... There were 10 responses from 10 mentors. They have really explained to me and made me understand that I do not have any problem. Your services are wonderful and I am very much thankful to all of you.

I have been mentoring on HM for 18 months. I really enjoy it & hopefully I am helping other people. Recently I posted my my first 'request for a mentor'. I have been completely bowled over by the response. So many people taking their time & making the effort to offer constructive advice in a friendly polite manner. For me it completely validates the intent behind HM. It reminds me how many good, helpful people there are out there. Thanks for providing such a great service.
'I called out for mentor assistance a week or so ago.

I have been inundated with unbelievably helpful replies, and now have a toolkit to draw on to start turning around behaviours and mind-sets that have been detrimental in my life.

I just want to thank Horsesmouth and all the amazing people who reached out to me.  Each and every one of you has given me something to think about, and some have given me heaps of material with which to start working.  Now I need to do the work! Thank you so much!'
