Self description

Female , 24

I was brought up in a family where depression and anxiety were commonplace and have suffered from both myself (particularly anxiety). I was bullied for most of my time in school and a lot of my family and friends have experienced sexual abuse. My brother and niece are both on the Asperger syndrome scale and I have family members with epilepsy.

On the other hand I have lived in London, Africa and plan to relocate to New York next year. Pushing myself to make new friends from scratch in unfamiliar places has been scary but incredibly rewarding - I love the independence and freedom it has given me.

As an electric guitarist I adore music and hope to have a successful career as a musician. I have done some gigs and the more I learn to control my anxiety the more shows I want to do.

I think the best way to improve the world is to spread knowledge as much as possible and give people a voice. I've told you my story and now I want to hear yours.

Life experiences

Women's Issues

Many family members and friends of mine have experienced sexual abuse. As a woman myself I understand the trials and tribulations being female presents (but shouldn't!) Whether you have been at the receiving end, or are simply concerned about someone you know, I am here to give advice and support. I want to let people know there is way out, help you fight back, heal yourself and become a stronger person.

I was bullied throughout school and it had a huge impact on my confidence. The feeling that you don't belong is a hard one to shake off - thinking that's it's your fault because you're different or weak or not good enough. I'm finally becoming the person that I want to be, I just wish I knew then what I know now! If someone is giving you a hard time or you're just a little down then please talk to me.

Depression runs in my family and I myself have struggled with anxiety issues (for which I have tried counselling). I'm here to get you out of that hole and motivate you to make positive changes in your life. Whether it's difficult family, friends or life decisions that need to be made I will do my best to help you come to a solution.

I am very lucky to have found your website. Recently I wrote about a problem which I face very often.... There were 10 responses from 10 mentors. They have really explained to me and made me understand that I do not have any problem. Your services are wonderful and I am very much thankful to all of you.

I have been mentoring on HM for 18 months. I really enjoy it & hopefully I am helping other people. Recently I posted my my first 'request for a mentor'. I have been completely bowled over by the response. So many people taking their time & making the effort to offer constructive advice in a friendly polite manner. For me it completely validates the intent behind HM. It reminds me how many good, helpful people there are out there. Thanks for providing such a great service.
'I called out for mentor assistance a week or so ago.

I have been inundated with unbelievably helpful replies, and now have a toolkit to draw on to start turning around behaviours and mind-sets that have been detrimental in my life.

I just want to thank Horsesmouth and all the amazing people who reached out to me.  Each and every one of you has given me something to think about, and some have given me heaps of material with which to start working.  Now I need to do the work! Thank you so much!'
