Self description

Female , 30

I currently work in social services. I was bullied since yr 3 in primary school. The bullying was very severe to the point I was beaten very badly aged 13. This bullying affected my whole life. I have been able to over come and deal with the issues of my past in the last year. I also suffered with Bulimia at aged 13 till 17 and still have certain issues but consider myself on the straight and narrow. I suffer with depression and I am currently taking medication and Hypnotherapy which has worked amazingly for me. I also used to self harm from the age of 13. I am training to be a youth mentor around my local area. I want to help people that feel they have no where else to go. I am that one person who doesn't judge no matter what I'm told. I am trust worthy and will alwys try to help. I know how it feels to be the person who just needs someone!

Life experiences

I have suffered with depression since I was 14. I had only started to receive treatment from age 20. I know how it feels to not be taken seriously and to live trapped in yourself for many years, having no one being lonely and just needing anyone to care.

Self harm and Bulimia

I self harmed and had Bulimia at the same time. This was from aged 13 to about 17. I understand alot about the affects of both these issues and how best to over come them. Bullimia is a touchy subject and a very grey area for some people, but since having it and doing alot of research after getting better I know alot about it, and understand. Same goes for self harming. I do not judge!

I was bullied for a very long time at school and all though I had friends I couldn't trust anyway truely. I just needed someone to confide in someone to trust and someone to give me advice. I have done alot of research on Bullying and why it happens etc. I was severly bullied to the point I had fractured cheeks and was in a very bad way from being badly beaten by a gang. I understand the feelings of victims and the bullies. I am able to offer advice to either. No one is truely evil . I do not judge!

Why mentor on horsesmouth?

This way of mentoring is a great idea. Not all people like talking face to face. This way they have a barrier to give them the courage to let out their true feelings what ever they may be. I have joined this site as I want to help others who may feel like I did when I was in my school years and struggling. I want to help people gain some control back . Learn new ways of living and better ways of dealing with things. Everyone needs someone sometime.

I am very lucky to have found your website. Recently I wrote about a problem which I face very often.... There were 10 responses from 10 mentors. They have really explained to me and made me understand that I do not have any problem. Your services are wonderful and I am very much thankful to all of you.

I have been mentoring on HM for 18 months. I really enjoy it & hopefully I am helping other people. Recently I posted my my first 'request for a mentor'. I have been completely bowled over by the response. So many people taking their time & making the effort to offer constructive advice in a friendly polite manner. For me it completely validates the intent behind HM. It reminds me how many good, helpful people there are out there. Thanks for providing such a great service.
'I called out for mentor assistance a week or so ago.

I have been inundated with unbelievably helpful replies, and now have a toolkit to draw on to start turning around behaviours and mind-sets that have been detrimental in my life.

I just want to thank Horsesmouth and all the amazing people who reached out to me.  Each and every one of you has given me something to think about, and some have given me heaps of material with which to start working.  Now I need to do the work! Thank you so much!'
