Believing , Creative , Thoughtful
I am a kind and understanding individual who will always do what I can to help others. I am creative, thoughtful and analytical and always believe there are ways of doing something better.
I've worked in design and marketing for over 20 years and am currently a volunteer presenter for a local community radio station.
- I have completed four London Marathons, the 24-mile Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge and also the London Duathlon
- I have walked across glowing hot coals and abseiled down cliff faces and office buildings for charity
- I've had a sketch performed on a London stage and reached the final stages of a BBC national sitcom writing competition
- I have held roles on local neighbourhood council and village carnival committees as well as for a rambling club.
I live in East Anglia in the UK and am married with three children aged between 9 and 13.
I have spent over two decades as a graphic designer and extensive experience in marketing, PR and event planning roles. I am also an excellent copywriter which is one of many skills I have developed due to my own desire to further my career.
I have previously assisted many students across the world in planning for and completing their studies. More often than not it's a case of working with them to help them set their targets themselves, offering support and reminding them to stay on track. The softly softly approach has worked for me because the student has stated their intent - they are far more likely to work towards their goal that way. It is a system that also works for people who are looking to change their careers.
During my life I have faced many challenges such as living with partial deafness and epilepsy, family bereavement and serious traffic accidents as well as financial problems and family disputes. I have a very balanced outlook on life and believe that nothing is ever black and white. I do not judge because everyone's circumstances are different but I believe I can be the sounding board that can help when there just doesn't seem to be answer.
Mentoring has many benefits, not just for the person being mentored, but for the mentor as well. First and foremost a way of passing on information based on my own experiences that may help an individual look at their situation in a different way. It's also about offering support and the knowledge that someone doesn't have to face what they are dealing with alone. I don't pretend to have all the answers but have many experiences on which to draw upon that will at least provided a balanced view of the issue at hand. Mentoring will also help me understand more about life. The perception I have of a set of circumstances could well be different to someone elses and I accept that nothing is ever black and white. It would be a chance to grow for me personally and helping someone find the answers the need in their own lives would be immensely rewarding.
