Listener , Caring , Understanding
I work for the local council and my job involves contract and project work for schools in the Borough and social care projects for children to keep them safe and provide communcation channels for advice and guidance.
Being in my early twenties helps me to relate to younger people, but also my job provides me with interaction with young and older adults through our social projects, which include, providing advice and guidance for parents, children with unwell/unstable parents, parents with unwell/unstable children etc.
Looking forward to being able to help others!
I used to be a very shy person and would only answer or speak to someone if they spoke to me first. However, going to University and now starting work and being in contact with lots of different people of different ages and backgrounds, has helped me to overcome my confidence issues and now I enjoy speaking to others be it about what's going on at work, or what we've been up to on the weekend. It's a good feeling and hopefully I can help others overcome this too.
As I was growing up, as all teenagers, I suffered from spots and acne and was left with some scars on my face and arms and this really affected my confidence and how I felt about myself. However, having visited a dermatologist after many many years, I am now free from scars and spots and now feel good about myself. I feel I can help others who may feel down about themselves because of this and hopefully provide some advice on how to make the most of the problem and to overcome it.
Last year, the day before my birthday was the funeral of my beloved sister-in-law, to whom I was very close to. She had passed away one week before and still now I don't believe or cannot understand why this happened to someone so young with everything to live fow. However, I am a spiritual person and believes that everything happens for a reason. I think this experience has made me that bit stronger, even though sometimes I still find myself unable to cope, but I feel I can help others through the pain and grief as I did with my brother and nephews by just being there to listen.
I would like to join horsesmouth and be a mentor because I'd like to be able to help and just be there to listen to someone else. When I was growing up, there wasn't really anything like this around to go to and speak to someone about a problem and get advice, without having to be face-to-face or over the telephone. Being an Indian women, it is sometimes difficult to be able to get help from an external source and I hope that by being a mentor I am able to help others in a way that I wish I could have when I was younger. I would like to give something back and share my experiences with others, which may hopefully help them with their problems.
