Self description

Male , 30

My name is Chris and I'm from the Ayrshire area in Scotland. I am currently at university studing BSc in Psychology. I hope to some day become a Clinical Psychologist.

I also work full time with a security firm in my area. If you havent figured it out yet, I am a late bloomer. When I was younger I had no idea what I wanted to do. It wasnt until recently I decided enough was enough and I had to get off my ass and work to provide a better life for my family.

I am currently living with my partner kerry, we are expecting our first child at the end of Feb 2010. Its getting closes and we are no where near ready. I also have a three year old son from a previous relationship, which, you can guess ended very badly.

I enjoy hanging out with my friends and family, going fishing, target shooting and so on and so on.....I am one of those people who is addicted to life and has to experience everything.

My favourite poem is:
"A world of grief and pain
Flowers Bloom
Even Then"

Life experiences

Stress / Anxiety / depression

I have alot of personal experience with stress, anxiety and depression. I was clinically diagonosed with panic attacks three years ago.

It all started around the time my previous relationship fell apart. My ex partner is for a better way of putting it a complete bunny boiler, who loves play mind games.

At that time I had no idea how to handle this and had no one I felt confident enough to turn to. This led to me suffering from very poor health suffering stress enduced black outs and later panic and anxiety attacks.

Luckily my partner Kerry managed to pull me back from the brink and I have been turning my life around ever since.

I have been helping people with these disorders, when I can, ever since.

I offer advice in Anxiety, Stress and depression

Well I have had my fair share of relationships some of which have been rougher than others.

I have had my heart broken several times and luckily I have had friends to pull me back to my old self again.

I offer general relationship advice. from break ups to make ups.

Buddy System

If you have anything on your mind or just want to chat. I am open minded and willing to leand you my ear.

I will try to give advice where I can.

Why mentor on horsesmouth?

I joined Horsemouth because I felt that I had relevant life experince and knowledge which could benefit others. I am currently studying Psychology at University, which, I hope to progress to a PhD in Clinical Psychology. I believe this kind of mentoring is more appropriate for some people as , like me, I felt when I needed help I could do it face to face. So this seams a logical option for people who what confidential advice.

I am very lucky to have found your website. Recently I wrote about a problem which I face very often.... There were 10 responses from 10 mentors. They have really explained to me and made me understand that I do not have any problem. Your services are wonderful and I am very much thankful to all of you.

I have been mentoring on HM for 18 months. I really enjoy it & hopefully I am helping other people. Recently I posted my my first 'request for a mentor'. I have been completely bowled over by the response. So many people taking their time & making the effort to offer constructive advice in a friendly polite manner. For me it completely validates the intent behind HM. It reminds me how many good, helpful people there are out there. Thanks for providing such a great service.
'I called out for mentor assistance a week or so ago.

I have been inundated with unbelievably helpful replies, and now have a toolkit to draw on to start turning around behaviours and mind-sets that have been detrimental in my life.

I just want to thank Horsesmouth and all the amazing people who reached out to me.  Each and every one of you has given me something to think about, and some have given me heaps of material with which to start working.  Now I need to do the work! Thank you so much!'
