About Horsesmouth

horsesmouth is where social networking meets social enterprise; where personal contributions create public value; where human capital is unlocked to create social capital. It's social networking with a purpose. It's social networking for grown-ups. We call it the wisdomocracy.

Find a mentor

When faced with a choice, challenge or change in life, do you ever wonder how other people coped with the same situation? What choices did they make and how did they turn out? Wouldn't it be useful if you could talk to someone who's 'been there, done that' and is willing to share their first-hand experience with you? And wouldn't it be great if that could be anonymous, confidential and secure? It's always better if you can get wisdom straight from the horse's mouth. And now you can.

Being a Mentor

If you've lived and learned, there are probably people here who could benefit from your wisdom. Don't keep it all locked up inside your head - share it with others who might benefit from hearing how you've handled something, managed something or achieved something.

It's a great way to volunteer and give something back, and it's a really meaningful way to enjoy communicating online. It requires only that you take it seriously and are ready to participate in the community.

Signup as a member first, then complete and submit your mentor profile (we approve them all before posting) to become registered as a mentor, and for others to view your mentor profile and contact you as a mentor.

As a mentor you can also:

  • Create, update and manage your profile
  • Publish your pearls of wisdom
  • Manage and count your mentoring time
  • Reply to calls for help
  • Publish useful book references and web links
  • Receive mentoring from others

I am very lucky to have found your website. Recently I wrote about a problem which I face very often.... There were 10 responses from 10 mentors. They have really explained to me and made me understand that I do not have any problem. Your services are wonderful and I am very much thankful to all of you.

I have been mentoring on HM for 18 months. I really enjoy it & hopefully I am helping other people. Recently I posted my my first 'request for a mentor'. I have been completely bowled over by the response. So many people taking their time & making the effort to offer constructive advice in a friendly polite manner. For me it completely validates the intent behind HM. It reminds me how many good, helpful people there are out there. Thanks for providing such a great service.
'I called out for mentor assistance a week or so ago.

I have been inundated with unbelievably helpful replies, and now have a toolkit to draw on to start turning around behaviours and mind-sets that have been detrimental in my life.

I just want to thank Horsesmouth and all the amazing people who reached out to me.  Each and every one of you has given me something to think about, and some have given me heaps of material with which to start working.  Now I need to do the work! Thank you so much!'
